Season 20: Breakout
I was brought in mid project to build on the great work started by Alex Bernard and Danny Peterson. Respawn and EA Games felt that Season 20 was a milestone and wanted the bootflow sequence to go beyond their brand guidelines. They gave our team lots of room to explore pushing the look into a glitchy, sci-fi direction.

Season 20 Motion Toolkit
I also designed and animated a motion toolkit to be used in launch trailers and announcements. These flexible assets included transitions, lower thirds, overlays, graphic elements, and more. They were designed to be easily implemented by the trailer team and helped enhance the gameplay footage.

Season 21: Upheaval
Animation for the Season 21 bootflow was completed mainly by Ariel Costa (Blinkmybrain) and Aaron Daniels (Innit Motion).
I worked on early concepting and styleframe design as well as designing and animating the full motion toolkit.
Season 21 revolved around the introduction of a new character, Alter. She is an agent of chaos so the unique campaign involved her defacing ads for other EA games with graffiti. These handmade elements proved to be an interesting challenge to bring to life with motion.

Season 21 Motion Toolkit
With the Season 21 toolkit we aimed to learn from the previous season and make a system that was even more flexible and allowed for more creative freedom for the editors.

Motion Tests
Nailing the chaotic handmade look took a lot of trial and error. The motion tests here showcase some of the procedural systems I developed for paint drips, sketch, art, spray paint, and print effects.
Not all of these ultimately made the final cut as the style shifted to be more collage oriented. But these were all a unique to challenge to accomplish only with After Effects.
